Vanessa to appear on desperate housewives!!

'Desperate Housewives' scoop: Vanessa Williams moving to Wisteria Lane!May 18

There goes the neighborhood! An ABC rep confirms that when Desperate Housewives returns next season, its cast will include — as a series regular, no less — Vanessa Freakin’ Williams!

Series creator Marc Cherry told us previously that he was looking for a new troublemaker to fill the void left by the demise of Nicollette Sheridan’s Edie. And seriously, could he — or anyone — do any better than the actress formerly known as Ugly Betty‘s queen of mean, Wilhelmina?

Didn’t think so.

Though other deets are at the moment scarce,TV Guide Magazine (which first broke the news) reports that her conniving character won’t be at the center of next season’s big mystery.

So what do you think, folks? This sounds so good to me, it borders on too good to be true.

Never been a fan of Desperate housewives- although I'm sure the arrival of Vanessa Williams will pull in plenty of viewers.  The show is filmed in L.A, which means Vanessa has or has to travel to L.A for filming.

If and when Vanessa is cast, it would be nice if she played a completely different character to Wilhelmina Slater, although I and a few others won't be so surprised if she is being type-casted again.

Great news for Vanessa Williams fans, who must be ecstatic to see her back on screen and on yet another ABC show. I still can't forgive ABC for cancelling Ugly Betty however, but anyhow that's as you know a completely different matter altogether.

But welcome back Vanessa to our TV screens!

America: Ugly Betty 'Will Always Be Something That Changed My Life'

Ferrera: 'Ugly Betty end is bittersweet'

America Ferrera has claimed that she will always have "incredible memories" of Ugly Betty.

The show was cancelled earlier this year but Ferrera admitted that she found it difficult to move on.

"It's bittersweet," she told Metro. "It's been a part of my life for four years, essentially my whole adult life. I love the cast and I love the character and I love the show and it's hard to say goodbye.

"At the same time it will always be something that changed my life and changed my career. There will be incredible memories forever and there's always the possibility of a movie in a couple of years."

Ferrera added that she was surprised the programme had such an impact.

"But that is the really rewarding part of it - seeing how much Betty is loved across the world," she said. "I was in Morocco and people recognised me as Betty. That's really amazing, knowing that this character's positive approach and her light and enthusiasm resonated. The love for an underdog is global."

5. Hilda Suarez [Ugly Betty] 

After four years, Ugly Betty sang its swan song last month.

And during those four years, Betty’s older sister Hilda Suarez, has had a steady presence in our top 10. The loud, brash and opinionated mother of Justin and older sister to Betty, may appear fierce upon first look, but really is a marshmallow who adores her family and would do anything for them. This admirable motherly trait is something that partner Bobby recognised and started a “Hilda Week” because he saw that she was always taking care of everyone else except herself! Awww! Over the last four years we’ve watched Hilda grow from selling beauty products door to door to owning her own business, despite her lack of education, in order to support her son Justin and become someone he could be proud of. The way that Hilda has always unwaveringly supported and encouraged her son and his lifestyle is also commendable.

Hilda was such a cool sis- okay from that 'sister's' ep in season 3, she was amazing, mainly thanks to Ana's performances as the fiesty Latina. Especially in the first season. Well done Ana! :-)
