Mark And Michael Prepare To Say Goodbye To Ugly Betty

'Ugly Betty' Stars Struggle With Final Scenes

Premiere Of Our Family Wedding - Arrivals

21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards  Arrivals
Actors Mark Indelicato and Michael Urie are struggling to bid farewell to Ugly Betty as they film their final scenes for the hit show.

The pair was left stunned when ABC executives announced in January that the sitcom's current fourth season will be its last. And as they both step on set for the last time this week, the stars admit they're still coming to terms with the sad news.

Indelicato writes on his personal Twitter.com page, "Can't believe that tomorrow is the second to last day of shooting. This rain is saying something about the end of UB (Ugly Betty). Just realized that I don't have a job in 2 days.......okay. Actually, I haven't JUST realized this; I just keep realizing it over and over again."

Urie adds, "Tomorrow morning is my last Ugly Betty scene evah (ever)! Think if I don't show up, it'll mean they can't cancel us....?"

The finale of Ugly Betty will air in April 14th.

Sneak Peaks for 4.18- London Calling

America Recruits Betty Co-Stars For Mali Fundraiser

How to Train Your Dragon Event

FERRERA CALLS ON BETTY CO-STARS FOR SUPPORT

UGLY BETTY star AMERICA FERRERA has recruited her TV co-stars to boost her ongoing campaign to raise funds to build an elementary school in Mali.
The actress, an ambassador for the Save the Children charity, has been working on the cause since December (09), when she appealed to fans online to aid her efforts to improve access to education in the African country.
Now Ferrera has called upon her colleagues, such as Ana Ortiz, Mark Indelicato and Michael Urie, to join her at an event in New York next month (Apr 10), where they will discuss an upcoming episode of Ugly Betty in support of the charity.
The fundraiser, held at Axelle Fine Arts Gallery on 12 April (10), will also see a portrait of Ferrera as her character Betty Suarez, by painter Matt Hartley, auctioned off to benefit the Save the Children school campaign.

Season 4 Episodes Ranked By Me *UPDATE*

  15. Blue On Blue
  16. The Butterfly Effect part 2

I loved Million Dollar Smile so much more compared to the other eps, that I had to make it my favourite. But of course, this could all still change with the last 3 - count em'- 3 episodes remaining!

*This week's episode in bold and caps

Thoughts on 4.17

Million Dollar Smile
*May contain spoilers
  • Kathy Najimy was really good as Dr Franco- she played it as it is. As a replacement for Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dr Farkus, she was exceptional throughout.
  • Funny moment: when Marc was rearranging Betty's face on the computer and making funny talk. Hehe!
  • So Amanda is not going to be with either Daniel or Tyler. Daniel accepting it is over between him and Amanda. Personally, I'd rather she settled for the latter; otherwise, I think she is better off on her own.
  • I liked Marc's curly hair and yeah, the baby he was holding was so cute. in the dream sequence, he was almost like a male version of Betty without the braces- so nice and not bitchy at all!
  • Betty's transformation from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan was done in a dreamlike sequence- but boy did Betty look great! So like... AMERICA FERRERA!!! I liked America Betty! hehe! :D
  • As Betty looked prettier, her personality changed and became a Wilhelmina-like clone- Willie liked Betty, but Marc, Claire and Daniel and Hilda took a disliking to her. Plus, it turns out Pretty Betty slept and used daniel and her and Wilhelmina are scheming against him. oh and Papi as a mobster! Whoah!
  • Braces= compassionate, no braces= non compassionate  hmmm... I hope that Betty still remains compassionate when she gets the full make-over. her hair looks better, the braces are gone, her tastes in clothes has improved a great deal since the first season. The transformation is almost complete.
  • Hilda on the other hand looked the complete opposite- she became the ugly duckling. & Betty was the pretty sister.
  • Oh and Betty finally got her braces off- YAY!! It was the moment we were looking forward to, and the way it happened was really good as well. The slo-motion thing was a nice touch too! :)
  • Not much Wilhelmina in this one, but the scenes towards the end suggest that she, with the help of Marc perhaps, is back to her old evil self and trying to get hold of Meade. Also, it looks like she wants to drive that wedge between Daniel and Tyler and Claire even deeper than before by having Tyler on her side. Will she succeed and perhaps get her hands on Meade? Will Daniel and Tyler put their differences aside and get along?
  • Nice party scene where the Suarez's celebrate Betty's removal of her braces. :)
  • Justin and Austin seem pretty acquainted with each other in that last scene... this could be one relationship that could last towards the very end of the show and perhaps beyond that.
*Final thoughts:

On second viewing, it was still brilliant and watchable as it was first time round for me- so many twists and turns all happening in under 40 mins. There have been high praises all-round for season 4 by almost everyone; however for me, I felt there wasn't a particular episode that I truly loved throughout from start to finish. Until I saw this episode. It was utterly amazing- just great writing, lots of interesting, funny-ish moments- from Betty's transformation to all the little scenarios involving Amanda, Daniel, Willie and Betty's family.

For all the anticipation of Betty's removal of her braces, Million Dollar Smile certainly lived up to the hype. It totally rocked!!!

America On End Of Betty; Ugly Betty Movie?!

This is an interview with America Ferrera by The Dish Rag journalist, Elizabeth Snead as she talks about Ugly Betty ending and how devastated we- as in fans and cast members- felt when we realise the end is almost here for the show.

I still think 4 seasons is too short for a show as big as this; it had the potential to last for 3, 4 seasons, but that is not going to happen now. America did mention in the interview:
'One of my concerns from the very beginning of the show was always 'I don't want this show to end without Betty transforming. Inside and outside.'
The writers have been very conscience throughout the 4 seasons not to change Betty so much but gradually, one step at a time and so her progression in terms of her look this season has not gone unnoticed. but I think they have timed it just right. hopefully now, what with tonight's episode airing in U.S, it should be an indication to us that Betty is not that far off from being beautiful Betty.  If anything, it will be another step towards her changing appearance, with her braces coming off for good.

She has had them on for too long- Betty is 25, turning 26-ish now - although it is great to finally see them come off in tonight's episode.

I loved it when America suggested there may be an Ugly Betty feature length movie- now that would be awesome, although I for one would not want Silvio Horta producing it. Personally speaking, I'd prefer anyone who has an understanding and vision for this show, who knows in which direction to take the characters.

Company: America Ignores All Tabloid Talk & Gossip On Her Look

America ignores the gossips
  America ignores the gossips
America Ferrera says she tries not to listen to comments about her image

All eyes are going to be on America Ferrera as Ugly Betty approaching
its final week, but the actress isn't interested in what they report
back because she's learnt to ignore the gossips, reportedly saying:

"I don't really think about it [what people say]. It's not hard to ignore, because I find it all so ridiculous.

"I think there's a whole different set of rules that exist in a pretend world. The celebrity world, the online gossip world, where people have different rules about [how] they get to talk about people and their appearances. To spend any time at all thinking about the bad or good things written about me is such a waste of time and energy.

"I hope to have a career based on the work I do and not whether a gossip site says I look good or bad in a dress."

Although she won't be reading this, we can report back that she definitely looked good in the frock she wore at the How To Train Your Dragon premiere on Sunday. Don't hate the gossips, America!

Photos for 4.19 The Past Presents The Future!!!

In episode “The Past Presents the Future,” wedding day is approaching for Hilda (Ana Ortiz). Betty asks Daniel (Eric Mabius) to be her plus-one, Ignacio invites Elena, and Amanda (Becki Newton) is set on fixing up Marc with her new client, Spencer (Bryan Batt). Meanwhile, Justin (Mark Indelicato) weighs whether his own plus-one could be Austin (Ryan McGinnis), Betty (America Ferrera) considers unexpected offers in her personal and professional life, and Wilhelmina finds a way to fight the Meade empire by using Tyler as her pawn.

This special episode of Ugly Betty airs on Wednesday (April 7) @ 10PM ET/PT on ABC.

Just Jared-Buzznet.com

I think this is the episode where we will see Hilda getting hitched to Bobby and as expected, Betty will not be the one getting married. Also, it's good to see Elena back in the fold- there was talk earlier in the season as to whether or not, Elena played by Dexter's Lauren Velez would return in season 4. Last time we saw her was towards the end of season 3 and her and Ignascio have been trying adapt to this long-distance relationship of theirs.

It looks like also that Willie will try and get Tyler on her side, so she can go up against Claire and win her battle against her. Is Willie going back to her evil ways again?

Nonetheless, it should be a cracking instalment . :-)

GoErie.com- America: Betty 'Really Changed People's Lives'

PUBLISHED: MARCH 20. 2010 12:01AM

Philosophical Ferrera says goodbye to 'Ugly Betty'

Should America Ferrera ever decided to stop acting, she'd make a great politician. The star is the picture of perfect tact when asked about the end of her TV series "Ugly Betty."

After being moved around the schedule, ABC canceled the series after a four-year run. The finale will be broadcast in April.

Ferrera pauses to carefully pick her words when asked whether ABC was wrong to cancel the show.

"I think that our audience will miss us. We have a devoted and loving group of people who watch our show and who our show has been very important to their lives. I think it's really changed people's lives." Ferrera says.

"I'm not a network executive. It's not about wrong or right for me. It is what it is and you just do the best you can with the time they give you. You're wise to be grateful for it and move on."

That moving on includes concentrating on her film career, which includes the new feature film "Our Family Wedding" that opened in theaters Friday.

Ferrera, who appeared in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer," is also a voice talent in the upcoming "How to Train Your Dragon."

Ferrera signed on for "Our Family Wedding," about how two very different families deal with a last-minute wedding, because she likes the idea of a film that doesn't follow the standard Hollywood script of having the bride be obsessed with her wedding day.

"I think women are a lot more complicated than obsessing over one day in their lives," Ferrera says.

Promo Photos For 4.18 'London Calling' !

Here are promo photos released on Pizquita for 'London Calling', due to air a week's time in U.S and as promised, Gio and Christina return on the show! Much to the delight of fans everywhere. Yay for Gio and Christina! :)

Promo for 4.17

This is ABC's promo for next Wednesday night's ep, 'Million Dollar Smile' due to air at 10.00pm in U.S. It should be an amazing episode- if this promo and ABC's own promo photos are anything to go by.

Season 4 Episodes Ranked By Me

  1. Blackout
  2. Be Shure
  3. Fire & Nice
  4. Smokin' Hot
  5. Chica & The Man
  6. All The World's A Stage
  7. The Weiner, The Bun & The Boob
  8. Back In Her Place
  9. The Passion Of Betty
  10. Level (7) With Me
  11. Backseat Betty
  12. The Bahamas Triangle
  13. Plus None
  14. Blue On Blue
  15. The Butterfly Effect part 2
  16. The Butterfly Effect part 1
*I have to say though that as the show has gone on, I don't have a particular favourite episode from season 4- lots of fans, as well as the cast have said this season has been the strongest and better than season 1, but I disagree.

Thoughts on 4.16 'All The World's A Stage'

*may contain spoilers
  • Betty is looking better each episode this season, but that's because of the fact her look is evolving as the show goes on. Next to go the braces!
  • Michael Urie looked great- LOVE the hair! His talk as Marc with Mark Indelicato's, Justin was really cool too. :)
  • Becki as Amanda was great- she was funny in the apartment when Betty and Zack were trying to make out and she still noticed!
  • Aaron Tveit was as Zack in a way creepy as Betty's latest love interest/crush
  • Funniest Willie line of the whole ep: (on the doc) 'he couldn't find his ass with both hands if I spotted him a cheek'! haha!!
  • Marc, Willlie and Amanda scene in the hospital was brill- Amanda: 'which of these is the cabbage patch and which is the prep?' (funny dancing too!)
  • Wow, Betty got played! Who ever saw that coming? And he deserved that slap!
  • And Justin, this was the ep where he would kiss his friend, Austin which he did-  probably the main talking point of the whole eppie.
  • Hilda was the motherly figure to Betty and Justin by dishing out advice here- she seems to know how to get the best out of those two.
  • Willie is back and she means business- she wants Meade, not Mode! Watch out Claire!
  • Betty ended it with Zack, wonder if we will see him again in the next episode. Although I never felt for the guy myself.

*Final thoughts: Yet another great episode, although I prefer the previous ep more compared to this- favourite moments involved Marc, Willie and Amanda. And good to see Justin's storyline finally evolving- there's no doubt that he is gay, it will be interesting to see what happens with his so-called friendship with Austin. Is 'All The World's A Stage' worth watching again? I'd say yes!

TV Guide: Michael Urie On How He Wants The Show To Finish

Michael Urie Knows How He Wants Ugly Betty to End

ABC's Ugly Betty is concluding its four-year run this season, and Michael Urie, who plays Marc St. James, knows exactly how he'd like the series to end.

At the GLAAD awards over the weekend, Urie told TVGuide.com: "The truest love Marc has is work and Wilhelmena [Vanessa Williams], so I would love to see them together in the end working at Mode, running the place."
He added: "And, of course, remaining roommates with Amanda [Becki Newton]."

Currently starring in the off-Broadway play The Temperamentals, the 29-year-old Urie says it will be hard to say goodbye to Betty.

Betty Titbits! - Potential Spoiler And News On America's Movie, Our Family Wedding

Monica in Rhode Island: Ugly Betty scoop please! What's in store for the end?

I'm still hearing Betty will probably end up solo, and in a far-off land. Let's get Chris Gorham and Freddy Rodriguez to storm the set, shall we?! Also, this week's episode has a big first: Justin's first kiss, with a boy! It's a pretty cute storyline that involves both boys thinking they like a girl and, well, obviously things take a turn. Sources tell me Wilhelmina is planning to take over everything, so she's very much back to her wicked ways, and that will continue in the coming episodes. And Betty calls the orthodontist this week, and you know that can only mean one thing: Her insurance is valid! Oh, and she's gonna get those braces off, too. Pretty Betty, here we come.

NY Daily News Interview With Vanessa Williams

Meet The Cast Of Broadway's Sondheim On Sondheim

One door closes, another opens. Or, in Vanessa Williams' case, a TV comedy sinks, a Broadway revue rises. As she wraps production on "Ugly Betty," Williams, 46, begins performances in "Sondheim on Sondheim," a look at Stephen Sondheim through his music, films and taped interviews. In 2002, the actress snagged a Tony nom playing the witch in "Into the Woods," so she knows her way around the intricate melodies and lyrics of the composer, who turns 80 on March 22. The show starts Friday at Studio 54 and runs through June 13.
How do you juggle "UB" and "SoS"?
I'm very organized. I have everything in my BlackBerry, so as soon as I have a break I go and find out: Do I have a fitting here? or Where do I need to be? The bottom line is that everyone's been completely understanding and accommodating, and it's been seamless going back and forth between the two shows.
I'm told "Good Thing Going" and "Losing My Mind" are two of your big numbers. What else are you singing?
Another solo is "Smile, Girls," which was cut from "Gypsy," and I'm doing "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" as a duet with Tom Wopat. I'm singing "Every Day a Little Death" with the ladies in the cast. We all do a lot of singing. There's a lot of company numbers.
Are you a happy camper being onstage?
It's great to be back home. I love it. The first day, we were sitting around at our music stands learning new music, and I felt like I was back in high school and college. You know, when you get new material for a new show, there's a sense of excitement that's like nothing else. It's similar to reading a new script and not knowing what to expect.
In addition to the ex-"Dukes of Hazzard" hunk, you're in good company with rising stars Leslie Kritzer and Euan Morton. And the great Barbara Cook.
Barbara is legendary and such a doll. She's 82 years old and doing eight shows a week. Her work ethic is amazing. I hope I can follow in her footsteps.
Will you miss playing Wilhelmina Slater?
Yes, absolutely, when "Ugly Betty" ends. I don't want to let it go. We still haven't recovered from the news.
Michael Urie, who plays your assistant on the show, is in "The Temperamentals," an Off-Broadway play about early gay-rights activists. Have you seen him?
I saw him twice last year, before this transfer of the show. He's such a well-rounded and brilliant actor - Juilliard-trained. He plays the part of Marc so well, I think a lot of people who watch him have no idea that he's nothing like that character. I hope it doesn't put him in a box. He can do drama, accents, anything. He's one of my favorites.
You have four kids. Any of them following in your footsteps?
Well, my 20-year-old's a dancer. She's at the New School and doing beautifully. And Sasha, my 9-year-old, kind of has the acting bug. But she's focusing on being a student now.
