Did You Know? 'Betty' Facts & Trivia (Part 1)

Here are some interesting trivia and facts on Ugly Betty that you may not know or read, which I have collated from various sources. Makes for good reading and making you go 'wow!' :

Did you know...

1. In the pilot episode (see above for image), Betty's hair is America Ferrera's real hair. When she didn't know Ugly Betty was going to be picked up for a full 23 -episode season, she later cut it. From then onwards, she wore a long wig.


2. In the previously on Ugly Betty segment intro of Fey's Sleigh Ride, there is the scene where Hilda tells Betty that HMO won't cover their father anymore. Watch the season 1 DVD of the show and you'll realise that scene was misplaced. It originally came from the 'Swag' episode, which was originally supposed to air on TV BEFORE Fey's Sleigh Ride, episode 4- Yet this was never ever televised on ABC.


3. Amanda Tanen was named after Brian Tanen, one of the show's production crew members and writers. The Fey Sommers character is based on real-life Vogue editor, Anna Wintour.


4. Although Alexis is the older sister of Daniel, the actress who plays her, Rebecca Romijin is 19 months YOUNGER than Eric Mabius in real life.


5. Though Ugly Betty has been a massive success throughout the world, one country it did not fare so well in was Germany. Due to low ratings after 2 episodes of the first season, the show got cancelled and the remaining seasons never got aired.


6. Wilhelmina played by Vanessa Williams only mentioned Amanda's name once throughout the show- in Swag, season 1 when Amanda is seen running at Mode trying to evade her attention she says 'Dignity Amanda!' (see below screenshot)
