Ugly Betty Vodcast With Dr Farkus' Jesse Tyler Ferguson !
Okay, that was a long-ish title to get your teeth round, but here it is the latest and final Ugly Betty Vodcast for 2009 by Becki Newton and Michael Urie. This comes in 3 parts: the first part sees Michael and Becki interviewing Jesse Tyler Ferguson- star of ABC's other hit show 'Modern Family' which is currently airing in the States- and of whom is returning in episode 10 as Betty's (former) orthadentist Dr Farkus.
For those who need reminding, he first appeared back in the brilliant season 1 episode 'Icing On The Cake' and had to pose as Betty's date for the evening.
It is going to be interesting to see how Jesse's character fares in the upcoming episode, 4 years on but his reappearance and the resuming of season 4 should be worth our while.
In the second and third part, Becki and Michael answer fans questions which they have submitted to them via post or email. In the final and third part, they answer a question put forward to them about their creative aspirations and how Becki looked back in 7th grade.
But yes, this is a very good vodcast- make sure to watch it! :)

Ok as requested by Annoymous the Season 4 cast promo photos from Ugly Betty, courtesy of ABC.

2009- End of Year Summary
With 2010 fast approaching, I thought that I might as well sum up a few thoughts about 2009 and how I felt about Ugly Betty from a fan perspective, instead of doing one very long piece, which summarises everything that has happened. Both in terms of the episodes and the show itself. I have opted against doing a month-by-month analysis of Ugly Betty, as the process is long and arduous.

Hopes Of Seeing Debbie Allen On Ugly Betty Took A Step Forward!
As you may or may not be aware, I am on Twitter- my username is mswliu81 (note: please be aware, no spammers or advertising, or else you will be blocked with permanent effect) and just yesterday I saw a user named 'The Real Jethro', aka Jethro Nededog. He is a freelance writer for the Zap2it TV section website and L.A Times Newspaper in the U.S. . On Dec 28- that's yesterday- he tweeted:
I have a question: Silvio, can you please get hold of @msdebbieallen and her agent and get her on #uglybetty in 2010, please?
This was the response I received from Jethro, hours later on Twitter:
from @TheRealJethro:
This all sounds very exciting- well, I am dead excited by this news. Debbie Allen is about to turn 60 (yes 60 folks!) on January during the new year and to see her reach her milestone but also land a role on the show, would be just perfect. I realise that she will have some dance and performance-related projects lined up in 2010, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to see her trek from her current home in L.A. all the way up to the East Coast of New York for an acting stint on Ugly Betty.
It would certainly be a dream come true indeed to see Debbie on Ugly Betty- seriously, this show has had so many legends appearing as guest stars and as a fan of both Debbie Allen and Ugly Betty, this would be just icing on the cake. This is the first step of what may ultimately turn out to be a huge- and I mean HUGE coup in the show's casting history.
I will be checking up on Jethro's Twitter updates, now that I am following his updates on the site and to see how the interview with Silvio went and if he has managed to answer my question. I sure bloody hope he does (and says 'yes, we will contact Debbie Allen's agent') !
Thanks Jethro! : D
'Oops, no I'm interviewing Silvio Horta next Mon. Phew. Send me questions anyway! #SOSUglyBetty #uglybetty.'And so, I sent him a question to ask Silvio, which was :

just read your blog post arguing for Debbie Allen on #uglybetty. Well-presented.. I'll try to mention it.If you have been reading one of my blog posts from October of this year, then you would've come across one that I wrote on guest stars that I'd like to see appear on Ugly Betty and it was on none other than Debbie Allen- the star, producer and director of Fame, the successful 1982 TV series spin-off, which was based on the hit Alan Parker movie of 1980.

Forget acting! Ugly Betty star Mark Indelicato wants to be a journalist! Who knew?
The 15-year-old actor told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that he has been spending his year “focusing on getting good grades and trying to getting into college.” He even told us,
“I have high hopes. I want to go to Northwestern University to study journalism.” Maybe one day he’ll be the editor of fashion magazine like Vanessa Williams at Mode!
The university, based in Evanston, IL, is one of the toughest journalism programs in the country, so we hope you’re studying hard, Mark! Even though we love you on Ugly Betty and would hate to see you go, maybe if you keep talking to reporters on the red carpet, maybe you can pick up some reporting tips

Episode Promo Photos For 4.11 'Back In Her Place'
Here are promo stills for Episode 11 'Back In Her Place' released by ABC and posted on TV Overmind website; plenty of Vanessa as Willie in these ones as you can see.
I'm still wondering with the landlord whether Betty is going to be moving out of Queens permanently and into a new apartment. It cannot be that long for it to happen during this season, could it?
The last photo looks rather suspicious- the guy in the handcuffs being led into a police van by cops: which makes me wonder, a) who could it be? and b) which main character from the show is connected to him and that storyline ? My prediction is that Claire is perhaps the one, who is involved in his arrest. Hmmm... looks like we'll have to tune in for this one.
*Hat tip: Many thanks go out to Clarissa of TV Overmind for posting these on the site. Cheers!
**update- I've been informed the last photo is indeed NOT from Ugly Betty but Desperate Housewives. Thanks Luana aka Nanyscia for notifying me on this.

Temp Helen Returns To Ugly Betty
Ugly Betty Brings Back Kristen Johnston As Temp Cautionary-Tale Helen
12/21/09 at 11:55 AM
Kristen Johnston will be reprising her role on Ugly Betty as office temp and aging party-girl Helen, the physical embodiment/cautionary tale of what Amanda could become in ten years (and a rather brilliant twist on Johnston's turn as aging party-girl Lexi Featherston on Sex and the City).
At a recent lunch for her good friend (and potential Oscar nominee), A Serious Man's Michael Stuhlbarg, Johnston said she's currently shooting her return (which will air January 27), and is changing the character from her first appearance in the season premiere, since the part had originally been written for Paula Abdul. "It was all, like, hot-flash jokes," said Johnston. "So I rewrote it. And now they get it. She's an aged-up, dresses-like-Lindsay-Lohan party girl, who, like, is like, 'OMG!' and wears leggings and has lined lips outside the lip line."
Johnston admits that last character choice didn't really translate onscreen the first time around: "It just looked like she had a really bad lip job." This time, Johnston will have better lip liner, and a better plotline. "Now I move in with Amanda and Mark's characters because I'm homeless and living under the turntable at Butter," she said. "And so they invite me to live at their house. I'm like, 'Hey roomies!' It's going to be funny. Honestly, it's funny."
Meanwhile, in between Ugly Betty appearances, Johnston is appearing in the stage revival 'So Help Me God!', which is trying to make the move from the Lucille Lortel Theatre to Broadway. When is that happening? "I don't know. I just stand here and look pretty. From afar."

*Christine Ebersole and Matt Newton (Becki Newton's brother) Also Guest Star
Episode 10- "The Passion of the Betty"
In "Ugly Betty's" first episode in its new Wednesday night timeslot as part of ABC's winning comedy bloc, Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") makes a cameo appearance, returning as Betty's orthodontist, Dr. Farkas. When Betty becomes concerned that she and Matt are spending too much time together, she tries to give him something else to be passionate about -- a surprise gallery showing of his art work -- with unintended results (Tony Award-winning actress Christine Ebersole guest stars as Frances, the gallery owner). Meanwhile, Marc is horrified that his one-night stand, Troy (Matt Newton), is falling for him, since Marc was Troy's "first," Hilda grapples with whether or not to tell Bobby that he's the father of her unborn child, and Cal Hartley hires a Hollywood powerhouse, Denise Ludwig (Nadia Dajani), to replace Wilhemina, on "Ugly Betty," WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
BETTY TELLS GUEST STAR FISHER STEVENS ABOUT HER WORST WEEK EVER, ON ABC'S "UGLY BETTY"
Episode 11- "Back in Her Place"
A battered but unbowed Betty recounts her worst week EVER to Mr. Z (guest star Fisher Stevens) as the show flashes back to her horrible last few days. Frustrated over the frivolous assignments Wilhemina gives her at Mode, and inspired by Audrey Hepburn's memoir, Betty creates her own blog about amazing charitable ventures that inspire her. However, as her hobby enriches her, her job is nearly killing her, since Wilhemina tortures Betty with beauty experiments for future stories. Meanwhile, Daniel fears Marc is sabotaging him -- and he is; Bobby treats a hormonal Hilda to some pampering during "Hilda Week," which goes awry, and Wilhelmina makes a long-term commitment to the incarcerated Connor, on "Ugly Betty," WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Q: Lola in Austin, Texas: I love Betty's makeover on Ugly Betty, but I'm still waiting for her to get her braces off. When will that happen?
According to Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Betty's orthodontist when he's not busy being awesome as Mitchell on Modern Family, it's probably going to happen sooner rather than later! He just tweeted, "In NYC. Here to check up on a certain patient I haven't seen in a few years."

Promo For 4.10
Unfortunately, no episode details have been made public by ABC as of yet; the title hasn't even been mentioned either. Which is a surprise- although as the episode doesn't air until the new year, I guess we shall know more about this one when Season 4 resumes in 2010.
Ugly Betty Achieves Its Highest Ratings In Season 4 On Friday Night With 'Be Shure'
Great news! As Ugly Betty bows out of the Friday night (death) slot in the U.S and heads off to Wednesday nights for Season 4, beginning early in January, the 'mid season finale' episode,'Be Shure' secured its biggest target audience for the show to date on Friday evenings last night by averaging nearly 5 million viewers:

"Betty" drew 4.8 million viewers and a 1.4 adult demo rating, benefiting from usual time period winner CBS airing repeats.

Fingers crossed, Wednesday nights ratings and viewing figures will hopefully get better for Ugly Betty and thus, increasing the liklihood of us fans getting a season 5 as well afterwards.

Thoughts on 4.09- 'Be Shure'
*May contain spoilers
My thoughts on 'Be Shure':
For some reason, I actually liked this one more than the previous episode, 'The Bahamas Triangle'- given
that I liked all of the storylines. So much more variation and substance this time round. And I have loved the Suarezes this season- MUCH better than they were back in Season 3 when they were IMO written terribly.
Overall, an excellent episode- there was nothing I really disliked about it, though Cal's appearance is really grating on me.
I would definitely rewatch this one.
Waiching
My thoughts on 'Be Shure':
- More Amanda and Claire scenes- love those two together.
- Claire has been terrific, thanks to Judith Light's performances: I love her character more and more as the show continues and the storyline with her finding her son she gave away for adoption was very moving but also material-wise, it gives Judith something extra to work with on her character.
- Cal Hartley- one word: ASSHOLE. I dislike him even more. I know he bailed Mode out of the financial craphole it was in, but surely that guy is up to no good by driving a wedge between Claire and Daniel. Which reminds me: when is he going to sling his hook for good? Cal needs to go away.
- Notice the Cabbage Patch Doll in the nativity scene mascarading as the baby Jesus- cute!
- I am growing more fond of the Daniel and Marc partnership as the show progresses; it's so great to see those two getting on so well as friends.
- I thought the pregnancy test concept was very cleverly worked into the plot of the episode and the way it all unfolded was really brilliant.
- Marc and Amanda- haven't seen much of them together this season but there was a nice scene where Mandy was hugging Marc and the delivery men were taking away the last piece of furniture. Cute!
- The Hilda and Betty scene was good to see, after Archie found out about the pregnancy- it's amazing to think a few months ago, their relationship as sisters were on the verge of a nervous breakdown in episode 12 of season 3- coin the title of the episode.
- Poor Hilda although I am a bit baffled as to how she got pregnant with Bobby, as we never actually saw her having sex. Perhaps, plot-wise they did have sex, but we never got to see it on screen. As for Archie- I do wonder whether we have seen the last of him.
- The Marc, Daniel and Wllhelmina scene was interesting- it will be intriguing how this one unfolds later on. Will Willie and Connor indeed help Daniel expose Cal for who he really is and force him out of Mode?
For some reason, I actually liked this one more than the previous episode, 'The Bahamas Triangle'- given
that I liked all of the storylines. So much more variation and substance this time round. And I have loved the Suarezes this season- MUCH better than they were back in Season 3 when they were IMO written terribly.

*Important* Season 3 DVD Info - Well Kind Of
As you were probably aware, Season 3 of Ugly Betty was released this week in shops in the UK and online, as well as the 3 set- DVD featuring all 3 seasons of the programme so far that you can only get from HMV.
I had to post an entry to inform you of some important details about the DVD sets. Firstly, the single season 3 has all 24 episodes from the show and the bonus special features such as the 'Coming back to New York' featurette, Becki and Michael's pop up vid- style documentry, deleted scenes, blooper outtakes and Mode After Hours webisodes.
The second is the complete 1-3 series of Ugly Betty has 23 episodes from season 1, 18 from season 2 and 24 from season 3, which in grand total is 65 episodes overall. However, it has absolutely NO bonus extras or special features to speak of; therefore, all you get is all the episodes from all three series of the show and that is pretty much it really.
My advice to you is if you REALLY want to see the DVD bonus features, then I'd reccomend you avoid purchasing the 3 series- that''s 1, 2 and 3 box set- and just buy series 3 on its own.
Each individual season DVD has the episodes AND bonus features included.
If you haven't got the other seasons of Ugly Betty and want to see the bonus features, as well as the episodes, I'd say purchase seasons 1 and 2, as well as 3 on their own. Even though you'll probably end up paying slightly more for them- although the extra costs cover the bonus features that haven't been aired on TV.
If, HOWEVER, you haven't got the previous seasons of Ugly Betty and don't really care much for the outtakes/bloopers, webisodes, commentry etc, then get the complete series 1-3 box set.
Hope this info will be of use to you when one considers deciding whether to buy the complete season 3 of Ugly Betty or the complete seasons 1-3 boxset.

EXCLUSIVE: ABC CONFIRMS EPISODE ORDERS
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has locked in its scripted commitments for the 2009-10 season.
The news, which was confirmed to the site exclusively by network and studio sources, includes some adjustments to its previously indicated episode orders.
Newcomers "V" and "FlashForward" are set to film 12 and 24 total hours, respectively, both one episode shy of numbers reported earlier this fall.Come 2010 then the Alphabet will have eight new episodes of "V" (returning March 30) while "FlashForward" (returning March 4) will offer up 14 fresh installments.
At midseason, seven episodes of "The Deep End" and "Romantically Challenged" as well as eight hours of "Happy Town" are on tap.
As for its returning slate, "Grey's Anatomy" is set to film 24 episodes while "Desperate Housewives" is booked for 23 hours.
The rest of its lineup - including "Castle," "The Middle," "Modern Family," "Cougar Town," "Private Practice," "Ugly Betty" and "Brothers & Sisters" - currently have the standard full seasons of 22 episodes.
Rounding out the bunch then are "Lost" and "The Forgotten" with 18 episodes each and "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted" with 13 episodes apiece.
Sources however were quick to note that the option still exists to order additional episodes of several of the aforementioned series.

*Note: I had to resize the photos because the fize sizes of the original versions were too big for me to upload.
