Thoughts on 4.09- 'Be Shure'

*May contain spoilers

My thoughts on 'Be Shure':
  • More Amanda and Claire scenes- love those two together.
  • Claire has been terrific, thanks to Judith Light's performances: I love her character more and more as the show continues and the storyline with her finding her son she gave away for adoption was very moving but also material-wise, it gives Judith something extra to work with on her character.
  • Cal Hartley- one word: ASSHOLE. I dislike him even more. I know he bailed Mode out of the financial craphole it was in, but surely that guy is up to no good by driving a wedge between Claire and Daniel. Which reminds me: when is he going to sling his hook for good? Cal needs to go away.
  • Notice the Cabbage Patch Doll in the nativity scene mascarading as the baby Jesus- cute!
  • I am growing more fond of the Daniel and Marc partnership as the show progresses; it's so great to see those two getting on so well as friends.
  • I thought the pregnancy test concept was very cleverly worked into the plot of the episode and the way it all  unfolded was really brilliant.
  • Marc and Amanda- haven't seen much of them together this season but there was a nice scene where Mandy was hugging Marc and the delivery men were taking away the last piece of furniture. Cute!
  • The Hilda and Betty scene was good to see, after Archie found out about the pregnancy- it's amazing to think a few months ago, their relationship as sisters were on the verge of a nervous breakdown in episode 12 of season 3- coin the title of the episode.
  • Poor Hilda although I am a bit baffled as to how she got pregnant with Bobby, as we never actually saw her having sex. Perhaps, plot-wise they did have sex, but we never got to see it on screen. As for Archie- I do wonder whether we have seen the last of him.
  • The Marc, Daniel and Wllhelmina scene was interesting- it will be intriguing how this one unfolds later on. Will Willie and Connor indeed help Daniel expose Cal for who he really is and force him out of Mode?
Final thoughts:

For some reason, I actually liked this one more than the previous episode, 'The Bahamas Triangle'- given
that I liked all of the storylines. So much more variation and substance this time round. And I have loved the Suarezes this season- MUCH better than they were back in Season 3 when they were IMO written terribly.

Overall, an excellent episode- there was nothing I really disliked about it, though Cal's appearance is really grating on me.

I would definitely rewatch this one.
