(above)... Ugly Betty's funny male and female dynamic duo
There have been now 8 episodes shown of Season 4, and at the moment, I for one am not happy with the lack of Marc and Amanda together. Suffice to say, this Mamanda drought is a cause of concern somewhat.
I might be wrong here, but I don't think there has been back- to- back episodes in Season 4, where we have seen those two together on screen for more than 1 episode. I can tolerate 2 episodes at most without Marc and Amanda together, but this has been the longest they have been apart since sometime during Season 2 (I think).
And what on earth may I ask is going on in that apartment of theirs that Marc and Amanda are sharing? WHY is it that we are only seeing Amanda in that apartment- and yet not Marc as well? And why is it that Marc is at that same apartment, on occasions with Betty, but not with Amanda too? It seems to me what we are seeing is Marc or Amanda in that apartment and NOT of them together. I'm sorry but that is just plain ridiculous. It just doesn't make any sense to have Marc and Amanda sharing and living in the apartment in Manhattan and NOT seeing them conversing with each other and with little scenarios taking place inside.
I looked forward to episode 3.13 'Kissed Off' when Marc moved in with Amanda at the very end. Ever since that episode, I was expecting more scenes taking place with Marc and Amanda and Betty in the apartment but they just didn't materialise.
Of course Marc and Amanda are developing a lot this season, individually and they have had their own storylines- which is good, but seriously, is there really any need to sacrifice their screentime together just for that? Why couldn't the writers develop the pair's individual storylines and at the same time build on their friendship? But no. The writers of seasons 1-3 have been very generous and excellent when it came to offering fans more Marc and Amanda goodness; however, in season 4 they haven't done that at all.
Fans have their own reasons for watching Ugly Betty- for me it is Marc and Amanda.
Right now, I don't know how long I can put up with this anymore- I watch this show for Marc and Mandy more than anyone else, but for the first time in 4 years, I am far from satisfied and thus, annoyed at their treatment by Horta and co.
With Season 4, personally speaking as I reiterated before, though it is improving with each ep, I am not enjoying it as much compared to Seasons 1 and 3, due to the shortage of Marc and Amanda. Plus, they make the show funny and amusing when they are together: when they are not together on screen, the show is not as great, humourous and enjoyable as it is when they are together.
The writers really need to start focusing on getting Marc and Amanda doing and saying funny stuff all over again and as a duo, because collectively, Season 4 insofar as Marc and Amanda is concerned so far, has been a failure in my and the show's books.
