The 'Real' Reason Series 4 Has Been Rescheduled In US

As you have probably read last week on numerous sites, the U.S. premiere of the fourth season of Ugly Betty has been moved to October 16 from its original air date, October 9.

Since then, there has been talk and discussion over this delay and why ABC decided to make this decision at the very last minute last week, but finally Hollywood Reporter have confirmed our suspicions, at last:

According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC has been using its Friday night primetime desert to squeeze extra rerun value out of new and struggling shows. The bumping of 'Betty' allows the network to wring one more week's use out of that catch-it-if-you-missed-it slot.

So in other words, this is more of a 'catch up session' for those who missed ABC's other shows, more than anything else.

And so Michael Urie was indeed right last week when he tweeted me on Twitter, after I posed him the question all fans were dying to ask.

What effect will this have on the U.S Ugly Betty loyal fan base, and just as importantly, will they tune in for the season 4 premiere, as well as the rest of season 4? Let's hope so for the sake of this show.
